Give your stairs the perfect finish - stair profiles in many designs
What do you need stair profiles for?
Stair profiles are specially designed moldings that are attached to the edges of stair treads. They are available in various designs and can be made of different materials such as aluminium, stainless steel, brass or PVC.
Stair profiles have several functions. On the one hand, they serve as protection against damage to the edge of the stair tread, thereby increasing the longevity of the staircase. On the other hand, they also provide an additional non-slip surface that increases safety on the stairs and prevents tripping accidents. In addition, stair profiles can also help improve the appearance of the staircase and create a more aesthetically pleasing look.
To meet the needs and requirements of different construction situations, stair profiles come in a variety of designs. For example, some profiles should be used only indoors, others instead, are weather resistant and can also be processed outdoors. Especially stainless steel profile also find their place in particularly busy areas (eg, industrial environments).
Overall, stair profiles are an important element in improving the safety and durability of stairs while providing an aesthetically pleasing look.
Stair profiles & accessories in our assortment
We offer stair profiles in a variety of designs. In addition to our "normal" stair profiles made of aluminium and stainless steel, we also offer LED stair rails, profiles with anti-slip safety inlay and anti-slip tape. Matching accessories such as inserts and end caps allow seamless integration into any type of staircase design. Whether you prefer a modern or classic stair design, our stair treads offer a wide range of options to meet your needs. They are easy to install and can be easily cut to the right size to ensure a perfect fit.
Stair profiles from stainless steel & aluminium: Stainless steel profiles, such as our Florentine stair profile stainless steel natural, offer a robust and corrosion-resistant solution that can also be used in humid environments such as bathrooms or on outdoor stairs. Aluminum rails, e.g. our Florentine stair profile alu natural, are a lightweight alternative that is nevertheless hard-wearing and durable. Both materials offer easy cleaning and maintenance, and retain their shine and color even with regular use.
LED Stair profiles: Illuminated stair profiles or even Florentine-style stair profiles (e.g., the DURAL LED Stair profile Florentine black) are visually appealing stair tread profiles for indoor and outdoor use. By using modern, high-light LED strips, the stairs look even more different and offers a multiple of visible safety. You have the possibility to choose from a wide range of colors. Of course, we have suitable accessories for the LED profiles in our store.
Stair profiles with safety inlay: are special profiles equipped with an anti-slip inlay, which is placed on the surface of the stair tread. The insert is made of a material that is non-slip and resistant to wear, such as rubber or PVC. They provide additional safety and slip resistance on stairs, which is especially beneficial for people with reduced mobility or those carrying heavy loads. The insert is usually very sturdy and resistant to wear, so it will last a long time even with heavy use. We offer you e.g. the Stair profile anti-slip alu black in various designs and colors, so that they can be easily adapted to the design and furnishings of the stairs.
Anti-slip tape: a specially designed adhesive tape used to prevent slipping on smooth surfaces. It is often known as anti-slip tape or anti-slip tape and is commonly used in areas where slipping can be a safety hazard, such as stairs, walkways, ramps, work areas and in industry. The surface of the tape is rough and grippy, allowing the user to safely move on it without slipping or tripping. We offer you the white anti-slip tape also available in other colors. From the classic colors (black & white) to black & yellow striped versions to transparent tapes, it's all here.
Application & processing of stair profiles
Stair tread profiles made of aluminium and PVC can be used wherever no unusual chemical reactions are expected. These profiles should be completely embedded in the contact layer, this avoids the formation of cavities where alkaline water could accumulate. The anti-slip safety inserts can be easily replaced with a new insert to be glued in place if necessary, e.g. in the event of damage or if a change in color is desired. A step profile also ensures good visual recognition, also in the sense of barrier-free construction of DIN18040 / 1- 2 (e.g. high-contrast design of step edges).
Installation of stair profile with inlay
The stair profile is glued in with flex mortar in the course of tiling. The profile must be installed in such a way that the tread area of the profile rests fully on the riser and the profile leg (profile edge overhang) reaches over the riser and fits tightly there. The profile surface must be flush with the stair tread. A joint of approx. 2 mm width must be left between the tile covering and the stair tread profile, which is grouted with a free jointing mortar. In order to facilitate cleaning of the anti-slip diamond structure inlay, it must be appropriately masked off before grouting commences. Adhesive and grout residues must be removed from the surface immediately to avoid irreversible corrosion stains. Profile shortening is expediently carried out with a fine hacksaw (hand hacksaw) or with a suitable stationary crosscut saw. The use of an angle grinder is not recommended. Before a new insert is glued into the profile, the profile groove must be cleaned with acetone to obtain a residue-free and clean surface.
