- Particularly resilient, slip-resistant & visually appealing
- For optimal slip resistance
- For applications without chemical reaction
Stair tread profiles with rubber inlay are particularly resilient. They are equipped with a non-slip PVC insert and have been provided with a gray non-slip tread surface. The profiles are firmly embedded in the flooring and the treads can be replaced at any time in case of wear. Our profiles not only protect the front edges of the steps, but also visually enhance the staircase. Profiles with PVC inserts are available in various colors.
Just like the wide stair tread profiles, they consist of a aluminium carrier profile with a PVC insert. The non-visible lower part of the PVC layer is made of hard plastic, the anti-slip surface is made of soft plastic. The visible width of the profile is 25 or 35 mm.
Application
Stair tread profiles with rubber inlay are designed for use in areas that do not receive very heavy traffic. These include private homes and smaller offices. These stair tread profiles can be used wherever no unusual chemical reactions are expected. Careful handling of cement materials is required to avoid corrosion. The profile should be completely embedded in the contact layer. This avoids the formation of cavities where alkaline water could accumulate.
The following applies to all products/materials: The usability with regard to mechanical and chemical loads must be carefully checked in each individual case. In general, the generally accepted rules of technology must be observed!
Processing
- Select a stair tread profile 1-2 mm higher than the tile thickness, as the tile adhesive itself also adds some thickness.
- Position the covering material at the correct height on the riser.
- Apply tile adhesive in the edge area with a notched trowel.
- Press the support profile fully into the adhesive bed and align the front edge over the riser tile.
- Apply a full coat of adhesive to the fastening legs.
- Firmly press in subsequent tiles and align them so that they are flush with the upper edge of the profile. Lay tiles to full depth.
- Leave a joint of 2-3 mm to the profile.
- Completely fill the space between tiles and stair profile with grout.
Care instructions
The profiles do not require any special care. Dirt build-up can be removed with commercially available cleaning agents. Cleaning agents must not contain solvents, hydrochloric acid or hydrofluoric acid and must not be abrasive.
