Tools for laying tiles
With the right tools and a little skill, laying tiles is not witchcraft even for non-professionals. We have summarised the basic equipment you need in an overview.
Grout and sponge
The same work is done on the wall with the grout. Finally, the sponge board is used for grouting and rough cleaning. They come in different sizes with different sponges.
Tongs, trowel and file
The tiles do not have to be marked out individually. The parrot tongs are used to nibble small pieces out of the tile for narrow recesses and corners. If you want to break out strips of tile with the breaking tongs, you have to score them first with a tile cutter. Adhesive or grout is applied with the trowel, smoothed out and textured. The steel wheel of the tile nippers scores the tile, which is then broken and held in place with the nippers' jaws. On the floor, the grout is spread and worked in with a rubber scraper on a long handle.
Tile hole cutter and rubber mallet
Circular holes of different diameters are cut in the tile with the tile hole cutter. The rubber mallet is used to tap the floor and skirting tiles lightly.
