Give your staircase the perfect finish - stair profiles in many designs.

What are stair profiles used for?

Stair profile Stair

Stair profiles are specially designed molded parts that are attached to the edges of stair treads. They are available in various designs and can be made of different materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, brass, or PVC.

Stair profiles serve several functions. On the one hand, they protect the edge of the step from damage, thus increasing the lifespan of the staircase. On the other hand, they also provide an additional non-slip surface, increasing safety on the stairs and preventing falls. Furthermore, stair profiles can also help improve the appearance of the staircase and achieve a more aesthetically pleasing look.

To meet the needs and requirements of different construction situations, stair profiles are available in various designs. Some profiles, for example, should only be used indoors, while others are weather-resistant and can also be used outdoors. Stainless steel profiles in particular also find their place in areas with very high traffic (e.g., industrial environments).

Overall, stair profiles are an important element for improving the safety and durability of stairs while achieving an aesthetically pleasing look.

Stair profiles & accessories in our range

We offer stair profiles in various designs. In addition to our "standard" stair profiles made of aluminum and stainless steel, we also offer LED stair rails, profiles with non-slip safety inserts, and non-slip adhesive tape. Matching accessories such as inserts and end caps allow for seamless integration into any type of stair design. Whether you prefer a modern or classic stair design, our stair profiles offer a wide range of options to meet your needs. They are easy to install and can be easily cut to size to ensure a perfect fit.

Stair profiles made of stainless steel & aluminum: Stainless steel profiles, e.g. our Florentine stainless steel natural stair profile , offer a robust and corrosion-resistant solution that can also be used in damp environments such as bathrooms or on outdoor stairs. Aluminum rails, e.g. our Florentine aluminum natural stair profile , are a lightweight alternative that is nevertheless durable and long-lasting. Both materials are easy to clean and maintain and retain their shine and color even with regular use.

Stair profile application

LED stair profiles: Illuminated stair profiles or step profiles in Florentine style (e.g. the DURAL LED stair profile Florentine black ) are visually appealing stair step profiles for indoor and outdoor use. The use of modern, high-intensity LED strips makes the stairs look completely different and offers a significant increase in visible safety. You can choose from a wide range of colors. Of course, we also have matching accessories for the LED profiles in our shop.

Stair profiles with safety insert: These are special profiles equipped with a non-slip insert, which is applied to the surface of the step. The insert is made of a material that is non-slip and wear-resistant, such as rubber or PVC. They offer additional safety and slip resistance on stairs, which is particularly advantageous for people with limited mobility or for people carrying heavy loads. The insert is usually very robust and wear-resistant, so that it has a long service life even under heavy use. We offer, for example, the non-slip aluminum black stair profile in various designs and colors, so that they can be easily adapted to the design and furnishings of the stairs.

Anti-slip tape: A specially developed adhesive tape designed to prevent slipping on smooth surfaces. It is often also known as anti-slip tape or anti-slip band and is frequently used in areas where slipping can pose a safety risk, such as stairs, walkways, ramps, work areas, and in industry. The surface of the tape is rough and grippy, allowing the user to move safely without slipping or stumbling. We also offer the white anti-slip tape in other colors. Everything is available, from classic colors (black & white) to black/yellow striped versions and transparent tapes.

Application & Processing of Stair Profiles

Stair profile

Aluminum and PVC stair tread profiles can be used wherever no unusual chemical reactions are expected. These profiles should be completely embedded in the contact layer, thus preventing the formation of voids in which alkaline water could accumulate. The slip-resistant safety inserts can be easily replaced with a new insert if necessary, e.g., in case of damage or a desired color change. A stair profile also ensures good visual recognition, also in the sense of barrier-free construction according to DIN 18040 / 1-2 (e.g., high-contrast design of the step edges).

Installation of stair profile with inlay

The stair profile is glued in place with flexible adhesive during tile laying. The profile must be installed so that the tread area of the profile rests fully on the riser and the profile leg (profile edge overhang) extends over the riser and fits tightly there. The profile surface must be flush with the stair tread. A gap of approx. 2 mm width must be left between the tile covering and the stair profile, which is then filled with a free-flowing grout. To facilitate cleaning of the slip-resistant diamond-structured insert, it should be masked accordingly before grouting begins. Adhesive and grout residues must be removed from the surface immediately to prevent irreversible corrosion stains. Profile cuts are best made with a fine hacksaw (hand saw) or a suitable stationary miter saw. The use of an angle grinder is not recommended. Before a new insert is glued into the profile, the profile groove must be cleaned with acetone to obtain a residue-free and clean surface.
