We hope that this has given you a better understanding of the different functions of the mats. Are you interested in a mat? Further information can be found in the subcategories.

Drainage mats

Drainage mats

Drainage mats are special mats, usually made of plastic or rubber, used for draining surfaces and reducing moisture. They have a special perforated structure that allows water to drain through the mats.

For this reason, drainage mats are used on terraces, balconies, roof terraces, sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots to improve rainwater drainage and thus prevent damage to the surface. If water cannot drain properly from an outdoor surface, this can lead to damage such as cracks in concrete or asphalt, wood rot, mold growth, and rust formation on metals. Standing water on an outdoor surface can also pose a safety risk by creating a slip hazard.

A drainage mat can help to drain water quickly and effectively, which can lead to a longer lifespan of the surface. Most drainage mats are easy to install and can be easily cut to fit the shape and size of the area to be treated.

Decoupling mats

Decoupling mats

Decoupling mats are special mats used to decouple floor coverings. Decoupling mats are laid between the substrate and the floor covering and can be used in various applications, such as indoors, outdoors, on balconies, terraces, or when laying tiles or parquet.

Using decoupling mats can help prevent damage to the floor covering that can be caused by stresses and cracks in the subfloor. If the subfloor moves or the temperature changes, this can lead to stresses that can cause cracks and other damage to the floor covering. A decoupling mat absorbs these stresses, preventing them from being transferred to the floor covering.

Decoupling mats, such as our DURAL decoupling mat CI++, are usually made of high-quality, durable materials such as rubber, polyethylene or polypropylene and are also available in various lengths. They can be easily cut to size to adapt to the size and shape of the floor.

Sealing

Sealing

A sealant in conjunction with tiles is particularly important to ensure that the substrate is protected from moisture and water. Tiles are generally not waterproof, as the grout between the tiles can allow water to penetrate, especially if it is damaged or worn. A sealant under the tiles can prevent moisture from penetrating the substrate and causing damage. This is especially important in areas such as bathrooms, showers, or kitchens where water may regularly come into contact with the floor.

There are several ways to achieve waterproofing under tiles. One method is to use a liquid waterproofing membrane, which is applied to the substrate and forms a waterproof barrier. Another method is to use sealing sheets or waterproofing mats (e.g., waterproofing mat with decoupling effect), which are applied under the tiles. More information can be found under Waterproofing.

Sound insulation

Sound insulation

Sound and impact protection mats are special floor coverings designed to reduce the noise and vibrations generated by walking on a floor. These mats can be used under various types of flooring, such as laminate, parquet, tiles, or vinyl flooring. Impact protection mats usually consist of materials like polypropylene with a quartz sand layer. These materials have the ability to absorb and dampen sound and vibrations before they are transmitted to the underlying floor or structure.

Soundproofing mats, such as our DURAL impact sound insulation mat SW14, offer several advantages. Firstly, they reduce noise generated by walking on the floor, particularly in multi-family houses or rooms adjacent to other living areas. Secondly, they protect the underlying floor and structure from damage caused by vibrations generated by foot traffic.

Anti-slip protection

Anti-slip protection

Anti-slip adhesive tapes are special tapes that can be applied to smooth surfaces to reduce the risk of slipping. They are particularly popular for use on stairs and ramps. Due to their self-adhesive layer, they are usually easy to install and require no special tools. Our anti-slip adhesive tapes can be attached to a variety of surfaces. They not only contribute significantly to safety by reducing the risk of falls and injuries on smooth surfaces, but are also very durable thanks to their weather-resistant and UV-resistant material.
