Care instructions for OTTOSEAL® S 80
To ensure that natural stone and ceramic joints remain attractive, elastic and functional in the long term, please observe the following care instructions: Clean gently: Use mild, pH-neutral cleaning agents without abrasive additives. No aggressive cleaners: Acidic or strongly alkaline agents can attack the surface of the joint. Reduce moisture: Ventilate regularly, especially in sanitary areas, to prevent mould growth. No sharp tools: Brushes with hard bristles or pointed objects can damage the silicone joint. Remove cleaning agent residues: Always rinse with clean water after cleaning. Thanks to its fungicidal properties and high resistance to UV light, weathering and ageing, OTTOSEAL® S 80 remains hygienic and visually appealing in the long term when cared for properly.
How to use OTTOSEAL® S 80 correctly:
OTTOSEAL® S 80 is a high-quality silicone sealant that is compatible with natural stone and suitable for demanding joints in indoor and outdoor areas – ideal for marble, granite, sandstone and other natural stones. Preparing the joint: Clean the substrate thoroughly: Adhesion surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dust, grease and release agents. Remove old sealants completely to ensure secure adhesion. Note natural stone: For sensitive or absorbent surfaces, it is recommended to mask the joint edges to prevent contamination. Use primer: Depending on the substrate and stress, use primer according to the adhesion table – OTTO Primer 1216 is recommended for natural stone exposed to moisture. Use backfill material: Fill joints with suitable backfill material (e.g. PE round cord) to prevent three-sided adhesion. Application: Insert the cartridge into a suitable silicone gun. Inject the sealant evenly and without bubbles into the joint. Smooth cleanly with a suitable smoothing agent (for natural stone: OTTO Natural Stone Smoothing Agent) and a joint smoother. For matt and matt sanded colours, smooth the joint only once if possible to preserve the appearance and structure. After application: Remove fresh residues immediately, especially on natural stone surfaces. Skin formation: approx. 10 minutes – depending on temperature and humidity. Curing: approx. 2 mm per 24 hours at 23 °C and 50 % relative humidity.
