Perfectly shaped balcony profiles: Maximum stability and aesthetics for your outdoor area.

Balcony and terrace profiles are important elements in the planning and construction of outdoor areas such as balconies, terraces, and verandas. They serve to create a stable and secure connection between the floor covering and the substructure, thus ensuring a safe and durable structure. They are designed to securely hold the balcony covering while ensuring adequate drainage. Balcony profiles also protect the edges of the balcony from damage and can help control and improve water runoff. Another important factor in selecting balcony and terrace profiles is their weather resistance and robustness against the effects of sun, rain, and snow. They must have high load-bearing capacity to securely and stably hold the floor covering while ensuring adequate drainage. Furthermore, balcony profiles can also contribute to an attractive look, as they are available in various shapes and designs that can perfectly match the balcony's design.

Overall, balcony profiles are an important component in the planning and construction of a balcony, ensuring a safe, stable and visually appealing structure.

Here you will find a wide selection of high-quality balcony profiles for various applications. Our balcony profiles are available in different shapes to meet different needs and requirements.

L-shaped balcony profiles (balcony brackets)

Balcony profile L-Form

L-shaped balcony edge profiles are suitable for use in thin-bed applications. They protect the structure from the elements from the side and provide a neat finish to the exposed edge areas. Balcony edge profiles are used in the exposed edge areas of balconies and terraces in conventional mortar beds or on existing screeds with a slope. The balcony structure is clad downwards with an L-shaped profile. For example, the L-shaped stainless steel balcony profile is integrated into the screed with the square-perforated fixing leg, ensuring alignment and height, or alternatively glued to the edge of the screed using a hydraulically setting tile adhesive. In conjunction with our drainage mats, the profile is installed in such a way that it is integrated into the lower area during screed installation and aligned accordingly in terms of height and alignment.

Our balcony edge profiles create a clean edge finish and protect the exposed edge areas from weathering and decomposition. The coating of the aluminum profile is colorfast, UV and weather resistant, and visible surfaces must be protected from abrasive stress and mortar residues.

The balcony profiles are made of powder-coated aluminum. The following colors are available:

  1. RAL 7016 Anthracite
  2. silver anodized

In addition to the aluminum version, we also offer a stainless steel version specifically for heavy mechanical loads. For the L-shape, you can choose between the following heights: 55 mm, 75 mm & 95 mm. As complementary products, profile connectors and profile corner pieces in L-shape are also available in stainless steel and aluminum versions.

Balcony profiles in T-shape

Balcony profile T-shape

The T-shaped balcony angle profile is perfect for installation on our Flexibal adjustable supports.

T-shaped balcony edge profiles are designed for the free edge area of paving constructions in conventional mortar beds on balconies and terraces. The profile creates a visually clean edge and protects the free screed edges from weathering and decomposition. T-shaped balcony angle profiles are fully embedded in the screed during screed production with the square-perforated leg, aligned correctly and the mortar bed is drawn off to the height of the profile top edge. Between the bitumen waterproofing of the balcony/terrace and the cement screed, one of our drainage mats must be laid in the direction of the slope to prevent stagnant water from accumulating within the screed construction and underneath it. This aluminum profile is also specially suitable for finishing raised floor systems with a covering thickness of 20 mm.

For example, the T-shaped anthracite balcony corner profile is available in 5 different edge termination heights from 40 - 120 mm. The tile strips are connected to each other with connectors and inner or outer corners. Necessary joint widths of approx. 2 mm are thus visually concealed. In the screed layer in which the T-shaped aluminum balcony profile is installed, no stagnant water may accumulate (installation of a surface drainage), as strongly alkaline water attacks aluminum. In special applications, the suitability of the strips must be clarified depending on the expected chemical or mechanical stress.

T-shaped balcony finishing profiles are available in the following three colors with the material aluminum anodized/powder-coated:

  1. RAL 7036 light grey
  2. RAL 7016 Anthracite
  3. silver anodized

The powder coating of the aluminum profile is colorfast, UV-resistant and weather-resistant. The visible surface must be protected from abrasive stress and mortar residues. Profile connectors as well as inner and outer corners are available as product accessories.

Balcony profiles in Y-shape (gravel & pebbles)

Balcony profile Y-shape

These tile channels are for laying tiles on screed-on-granite-chips foundations. They are a special, robust aluminum balcony edge profile with a sloping drip edge and integrated drainage openings on the front, for the free edge area of balconies and terraces.

The balcony profile Y-shape gravel and chippings anthracite, for example, is used in conjunction with the loose laying of large-format and self-supporting panel elements such as concrete paving stones, ceramic or natural stone on gravel and chippings infill or on adjustable or terrace supports. The tile rail is applied to the existing waterproofing on the edge with the square-perforated support leg and aligned to height and alignment. The strip must be installed in such a way that rainwater penetrating the balcony structure is drained off at the level of the lower drainage level via the drainage openings of the profile.

If necessary, the balcony profile must be secured using appropriate measures, without obstructing the drainage of seepage water through the front openings of the rail. The paving slabs must be laid at the edge of the balcony profile so that they are flush with the top edge of the profile. Profile connectors and corner pieces are also available as additional products. With this design, you will also need a connector to connect the corner piece to the balcony end profile.

The Y-shaped balcony profiles for gravel & chippings are made of aluminum. Various heights and colors are available:

  1. RAL 7016 anthracite
  2. silver anodized

Balcony angle profile with drip edge

Balcony profile with drip edge

The balcony edge profile is structurally designed with a beveled drip edge. The use of the tile rail ensures an optimal balcony or terrace edge, both technically and aesthetically. The vertical profile leg has a height of 18 or 60 mm; the perforated support leg has a width of 60 mm for both tile rails, with a portion of 37 mm unperforated. The 45° beveled drip edge has a width of 17 mm and is folded at the front to accommodate a connector. Depending on the height of the covering, the entire visible balcony structure is covered and protected against moisture, moss, and dirt. The zB balcony angle profile with silver drip edge is installed before tiling and pressed fully into the combed thin-set mortar and aligned straight. For moisture-related reasons, a sufficiently large edge distance should be maintained between the balcony edge and the vertical profile leg.

The balcony angle profile with drip edge is made of aluminum. Different heights and colors are available:

  1. RAL 7016 Anthracite
  2. silver anodized

The balcony edge profiles are secured and connected to each other with our connector for balcony angle profiles with drip edge to prevent possible cracks to the adjacent tile rail. A small gap of approx. 1 mm should be left between the individual strips to prevent material stress. Inner and outer corners are optimally and aesthetically formed with specially manufactured corner pieces. The corner pieces are designed to be suitable for tile thicknesses of 9, 11 and 13 mm. The edge profile can also be used for the vertical formation of the front sides in connection with balconies and terraces. Before laying the tiles, the perforated support leg of the profile must be completely covered with sealing tape using thin-bed mortar. In connection with decoupling mats , this is done in such a way that they are only brought up to the perforated support leg. In contrast to the procedure mentioned above, the sealing tape is now first completely glued over the support leg and the decoupling mat. The floor tiles are laid flush with the surface and with a grout width of approx. 5 mm, which is sealed with a neutral-curing silicone sealant.

Height-adjustable edge profile with integrated drainage.

Balcony profile, limiting profile

The free edge areas of balconies and terraces place the highest demands on edge profiles, both in terms of appearance, installation, and material. Depending on the construction of the surface, different heights must be covered. Equally important is the integration into various waterproofing variants while ensuring sufficient water drainage and maximum protection of lower parts of the building. An attractive appearance should be maintained for many years without requiring extensive maintenance.

STE balcony profiles are a two-part edging profile system for balconies and terraces with a wide range of applications. The combination of base and top profile can be height-adjusted continuously and is therefore suitable for all construction heights from 30 mm to 120 mm. This provides optimal and elegant protection for the free edge areas of balconies and terraces, regardless of the chosen paving system. The STE balcony system is particularly suitable for loose laying of thin, self-supporting paving stones on a drainage mat or on adjustable supports, as well as for installation in drainage mortar or in a gravel/shingle bed, or as a gravel retainer.

The internal drainage system, which is not visible from the outside, ensures with its sufficiently large openings that the water is drained away from the level of the building seal without visible streaks forming on the outside. The drip edge effectively keeps the water away from the masonry and lower parts of the structure, preventing streaks from forming on the front visible surface.

The balcony STE system includes the following components:

    1. Base profiles for installation heights of 30 mm and 60 mm (e.g. balcony base profile STE V4A stainless steel )
    2. Snap-on profiles in heights of 30/45/60/75 mm
    3. Connectors for base profiles in heights of 45 mm and 75 mm for covering the edge joints.
    4. Base profile external corners for mounting heights of 30 mm

The STE base profiles are installed independently of the chosen pavement structure. The support leg of the base profile is integrated into the substrate at the correct height below the structural waterproofing and, if necessary, screwed down.

If required, a suitable extension profile is slid on and aligned correctly. Fixation at the chosen height is achieved through a technical clamping effect. For reinforcement, the holes on the inside of the extension profile can be fixed with DURAL Speed Flex adhesive .

Balcony profile STE

The use of connectors is not absolutely necessary; usually, the butt edges of the base profiles can be neatly covered with the snap-on profiles.

All components of the system are made of high-quality V4A (316) stainless steel with a brushed surface. This alloy makes the material resistant to environmental influences, road salt, and fertilizer – an important aspect, especially for terraces directly adjacent to lawns, as fertilization can produce aggressive acids. These acids cannot harm the corrosion-resistant steel. This ensures that both the attractive appearance and the functionality of the system are preserved for the long term.
