Are drainage channels useful in outdoor areas?

Drainage is the targeted removal of water through artificial systems, in addition to natural drainage. A distinction is made between open drainage, such as gutters or drainage channels, and closed drainage, such as sewer pipes or downpipes. Outdoor drainage channels are important for controlled drainage of runoff water, thus preventing water accumulation on the surface. Such water accumulation can lead to damage to the surface and also promote water penetration into the building or other structures. Therefore, it is important to install drainage channels properly to ensure that water is drained effectively. In outdoor areas such as terraces, courtyards, or driveways, standing rainwater can be a problem. It is important that the rainwater is drained effectively and aesthetically. One way to do this is to use drainage channels, such as our UD Pro channel in black. These channels serve to collect and drain rainwater from adjacent areas. In rain, large amounts of water accumulate on the surface of the terrace or balcony within a short time. If this is not drained immediately, waterlogging occurs. This increases water pressure and leads to increased penetration of liquid into the subsoil. For this reason, it is important to integrate a device for draining rainwater into the tiled floor.

Our range of drainage channels

Our DURAL drainage channels are an effective solution for draining water in outdoor areas. They consist of a hollow plastic body into which a high-quality anodized aluminum grate is inserted. This prevents the channel from becoming clogged with dirt and prevents people from stepping into the channel. The tile covering should have a slight slope towards the channel so that rainwater can be drained quickly and reliably and only a small amount of moisture penetrates the subsoil.

Our high-quality drainage channels in two different colors are particularly well-suited for outdoor projects and impress with their functional design. No special substructure is required, allowing for quick installation. We offer two different variants:

1. UD P 65 drainage channel: This channel features a tall and narrow design and has a maximum flow rate of 360 liters per minute. It is available in lengths of 100 and 200 cm.
2. UD P 100 drainage gutter: This gutter has a flat design and a maximum flow rate of 330 liters per minute. It is also available in lengths of 100 and 200 cm.

U-DRAIN pro offers the option of a side or bottom drain. For the bottom drain, the vertical drain fitting is positioned at any point in the gutter and the gutter bottom is cut out using a hole saw. The fitting is then permanently glued to the gutter with the waterproof U-PVC adhesive from DURAL. The U-DRAIN pro grate and gutter body can be easily shortened to the desired length with a suitable saw.

The grate and channel body can be easily shortened to the required length with a suitable saw, which greatly simplifies adaptation to the respective on-site conditions. In addition to their attractive and sleek design, our channels are also extremely durable and impact-resistant. The grate is made of solid aluminum and is available in silver and black. Furthermore, our channels are frost and saltwater resistant, making them ideal for outdoor use.

The gutters are available in two different geometries and can therefore be used for various applications. In addition to various drain outlets (e.g. UD Pro drain), we also stock connectors, corner pieces, end caps & T-pieces. Installation is quick and easy, as the gutter body is made of PVC. This allows you to install your drainage gutters quickly and easily and benefit from their high functionality and attractive appearance.

Processing

1. Remove the product from the box. The anodized grates remain in the gutter until all concrete and tiling work is completed. The film must not be removed to prevent the concrete from coming into direct contact with the aluminum grate. This also prevents mechanical damage.
2. Position the drainage gutter as it should be later. Next, determine the location of the water connection. For vertical drains, a hole of the appropriate diameter must be cut into the gutter using a hole saw.
3. After determining the final height and slope, glue the parts together according to the drainage design using PVC-U adhesive, ensuring that the angle pieces and drains are fixed in the correct position. Install the drainage channel stably with a foundation. Ensure that the channel remains straight and clean during concreting.
4. Now the chosen structure and the corresponding covering (e.g. tiles, slabs, concrete, paving stones, stone carpet, etc.) can be installed. To avoid possible movements between products of different types, we recommend using a flexible product such as silicone or polyurethane between the tiles and the gutter. To avoid possible movements and cracks, a 4 mm joint is recommended.
5. After all work has been completed and the area cleaned, the protective film can be removed.
