Notched & Smoothing Trowel

A smoothing trowel differs from other trowels in the degree of its serration. A smoothing trowel usually has no serration, while a notched trowel (also known as a "tile trowel") is available in various serration patterns. The individual serration of the tile trowel or notched spatula depends on the material to be processed and the substrates that need to be worked with the respective trowel. There are also smoothing trowels that are serrated on one half and smooth on the other. This allows the smoothing compound to be smoothly spread on the one hand, and evenly applied on the other hand thanks to the serration.

Which ladle should I use?

We have many different trowels in our range. Which one you ultimately choose depends on what work you want to use the trowel for. A trowel is generally used to apply certain materials, such as tile adhesive, to substrates. The individual notches of the notched trowel determine the height of the adhesive bed and thus how much tile adhesive is applied to the substrate. Trowels with small notches are usually used for the first application of the contact layer. This is associated with roughening the surface by the trowel teeth. This is especially necessary in outdoor areas.
