Perfectly shaped balcony profiles: Maximum stability and aesthetics for your outdoor area
Balcony and patio profiles are important elements in the design and construction of outdoor areas such as balconies, patios and verandas. They are used to create a stable and secure connection between the flooring and the substructure, ensuring a safe and durable structure. They are designed to securely hold the balcony decking while providing adequate drainage. Balcony profiles also protect the edges of the balcony from damage and can help control and improve water drainage. Another important factor in the selection of balcony and terrace profiles is their weather resistance and robustness to the effects of sun, rain and snow. They must have a high load-bearing capacity to keep the flooring safe and stable while ensuring adequate drainage. In addition, balcony profiles can also help to create an appealing look, as they are available in various shapes and designs that can perfectly match the design of the balcony.
Overall, balcony profiles are an important part of designing and constructing a balcony to ensure a safe, stable and visually appealing structure.
Here you will find a wide selection of high-quality balcony profiles for various applications. Our balcony profiles are available in different shapes to meet different needs and requirements.
Balcony profiles in L-shape (balcony angles)
Balcony end profiles in L-shape are suitable for use in thin beds. They protect the structure height from the side from the weather and create a shapely finish of the free edge areas. Balcony end profiles are used in the free edge areas of balconies and terraces in conventional mortar beds or on existing sloping screeds. The balcony construction is covered downwards with a profile in L-shape. The e.g. Balcony profile L-form stainless steel natural is worked into the screed with the square perforated fastening leg flush and level or alternatively glued in the edge area of the sloping screed with the aid of a hydraulically setting tile adhesive. In connection with our mats for drainage, the profile is installed in such a way that it is installed in the lower part of the screed during the screed installation and aligned accordingly in terms of height and alignment.
Our balcony edge profiles provide a clean edge finish and protect the free edge areas from weathering and decomposition. The coating of the aluminum profile is color-stable, UV and weather resistant and visible surfaces are to be protected from abrasive wear and mortar residues.
The balcony profiles are made of powder-coated aluminium. The following color shades are available for selection:
- RAL 7016 anthracite
- silver anodized
In addition to the aluminum variant, we also offer a stainless steel variant especially for heavy mechanical loads. You have the choice between the heights: 55 mm, 75 mm & 95 mm. As a product supplement, profile connectors and profile corner pieces are also available in L-shape as stainless steel and aluminum variants.
Balcony profiles in T-shape
The balcony angle profile in T-shape is perfect, for the installation on our Flexibal stilt bearings (e.g. DURAL Flexibal supporter MB).
Balcony end profiles in T-shape are designed for the free edge area of decking constructions in conventional mortar beds on balconies and terraces. The rail creates a visually clean edge finish and protects the free screed edges from weathering and decomposition. T-shaped balcony angle profiles are fully embedded in the screed with the square perforated leg, aligned true to line and the mortar bed drawn off at the correct height above the upper edge of the profile during screed production. Between the bitumen sealing of the balcony/terrace and the cement screed, one of our drainage mats must be laid in the direction of the slope, so that no water can accumulate within the screed construction or on its underside. This aluminum profile is also especially suitable for finishing off supporter installations with a covering thickness of 20 mm.
The e.g. balcony angle profile T-shape anthracite is available in 5 different edge heights from 40 - 120 mm. The tile profile are connected to each other with connectors and inner or outer corners. Necessary joint widths of approx. 2 mm are thus visually concealed. In the screed layer, in which the aluminium- balcony profile is installed in T-shape, no backwater may accumulate (installation of a surface drainage), since alkaline strongly enriched water attacks aluminium. In special applications, the usability of the profiles must be clarified depending on the expected chemical or mechanical load.
Balcony end profiles in T-shape are available with the material aluminium anodized/powder-coated in the following three color shades:
- RAL 7036 platinum gray
- RAL 7016 anthracite
- silver anodized
The powder coating of the aluminum profile is color stable, UV and weather resistant. The visible surface must be protected against sanding and mortar residues. Profile connectors as well as inner and outer corners are available as product supplements.
Balcony profiles in Y-shape (chippings & gravel)
This tile profile is about slab laying on chippings bedding. It is a special balcony end profile made of aluminium in a robust design with sloping drip edge and drainage openings incorporated at the front, for the free edge area of balconies and terraces.
The e.g. Balcony profile Y-shape chippings and gravel anthracite is used in connection with the loose laying of large-format and self-supporting slab elements such as those made of concrete block, ceramic or natural stone on gravel and chippings fills or on stilt or terrace bearings. The tile profile is applied with the square perforated support leg in the edge area to the waterproofing provided by the customer and aligned in height and alignment. In terms of drainage, the strip must be installed in such a way that any rainwater penetrating the balcony construction at the level of the lower drainage level is drained away via the drainage openings of the profile.
If necessary, the balcony profile must be fixed by suitable means without obstructing the drainage of seepage water through the front openings of the rail. The slabs must be laid in the edge area of the balcony profile so that they are flush with the upper edge of the profile. Profile connectors and profile corner pieces are also available as product supplements. In this form, you also need a connector, to connect the corner piece with the balcony end profile.
The balcony profiles in Y-shape for chippings & gravel are made of aluminium. There are different heights and the color shades to choose from:
- RAL 7016 anthracite
- silver anodized
balcony angle profile with drip edge
The balcony end profile is structurally provided with a beveled drip edge. Using the tile profile technically and visually ensures an optimal balcony or terrace closure. The vertical profile leg has a height of 18 or 60 mm, the perforated support leg has a width of 60 mm for both tile profile, part of which is unperforated in a width of 37 mm. The drip edge beveled at 45° has a width of 17 mm and is beveled at the front to accommodate a connector. Depending on the height of the covering, the entire visible balcony structure is covered and protected against moisture, moss and dirt. The e.g. balcony angle profile with drip edge silver is installed before tiling and pressed into the combed-on thin-bed mortar over the entire surface and aligned straight. A sufficiently large edge distance should be maintained between the balcony edge and the vertical profile leg for moisture-related reasons.
The balcony angle profile with drip edge is made of aluminium. There are different heights and the color shades to choose from:
- RAL 7016 anthracite
- silver anodized
The balcony end profiles are secured and connected to each other with our connector for balcony angle profile with drip edge to avoid possible jumps to the next adjacent tile profile. A small gap of approx. 1 mm must be left between the individual strips to prevent material stresses. Inside and outside corners are formed optimally and attractively with specially manufactured corner pieces. The corner pieces are designed in such a way that they are suitable for covering thicknesses of 9, 11 and 13 mm. The edge profile can also be used in connection with balconies and terraces for the vertical formation of the front sides. Before tiling, the perforated support leg of the profile must be fully covered with sealing tape using thin-bed mortar. In connection with Decoupling mats mats, the mats should only be applied as far as the perforated support leg. In contrast to the procedure described above, the sealing tape is now bonded over the entire surface of the support leg and the decoupling mat. The floor tiles are laid flush with the surface of the tile end profile and with a joint width of approx. 5 mm, which is sealed with a neutrally crosslinking silicone rubber.
Height-adjustable border profile with integrated drainage system
The free edge areas of balconies and terraces place the highest demands on boundary profiles, both in terms of appearance, installation and material. Depending on the construction of the decking, a wide variety of heights must be covered. Equally important is the integration into a wide variety of waterproofing options, while at the same time ensuring adequate water drainage and the greatest possible protection of lower-lying parts of the building. The aim is to maintain an attractive appearance for many years without requiring a great deal of maintenance.
STE balcony profiles are a two-part edging profile system for balconies and terraces with a wide range of applications. The combination of base and slip-on profile can be continuously adjusted in height and is thus suitable for all construction heights from 30 mm to 120 mm. As a result, the free edge areas of balconies and terraces are optimally and elegantly protected, regardless of the chosen covering construction. The STE balcony system is particularly suitable for the loose laying of thin and self-supporting coverings on a DURAL drainage mat DD 80++ or on stilt bearings, as well as for laying in drainage mortar or in a gravel/split bed or as a gravel trap.
The internal drainage, which is not visible from the outside, ensures with its sufficiently large openings that the water is drained away from the level of the building waterproofing without leaving visible running marks from the outside. The drip edge effectively keeps the water away from masonry and lower parts of the building, which means that no running marks can appear on the front visible surface.
The balcony STE system includes the following components:
- Basic profiles for installation heights of 30 mm and 60 mm (e.g. Balcony basic profile STE V4A stainless steel)
- Clip-on profiles in the heights 30/45/60/75 mm
- Connector for base profiles in heights of 45 mm and 75 mm to cover the butt edges
- Basic profile-Outer corners for installation heights of 30 mm
The installation of the STE base profiles is independent of the chosen covering construction. The support leg of the base profile is worked into the substrate below the building seal at the correct height and, if necessary, screwed in place.
If required, a suitable slip-on profile is slid on and aligned appropriately. Fixing at the selected height is achieved by technical clamping action. For reinforcement, the holes on the inside of the clip-on profile can be filled with DURAL Speed Flex mounting adhesive can be used to reinforce the holes.
The use of connectors is not mandatory, in most cases the push-on profiles can be used to neatly cover the butt edges of the base profiles.
All components of the system are made of high quality stainless steel V4A (316) and with ground surface. This alloy makes the material resistant to environmental influences, road salt and fertilizer - an aspect that is particularly important for terraces that directly adjoin the lawn, because aggressive acids are produced during fertilization, for example. These cannot harm the corrosion-resistant steel. This means that both the attractive appearance and the functionality of the system are permanently preserved.
