Worktop profiles - For the protection of your worktops

What is meant by worktop profiles?

Kitchen worktops

Worktop edging profiles are special tile profiles that are attached to the top edge or edges of worktops. They serve to protect and reinforce the edges of the worktops, preventing wear and tear and damage to high-quality kitchen surfaces.

The main application of worktop profiles is therefore in the kitchen area, but of course this special tile profile can also be used in other rooms of the house. For example, they also find their well-deserved place in workshops or hobby rooms.

Worktops are used daily for a wide variety of tasks. It can happen that the person working often leans against the edge of the worktop with their body. For this reason, it is necessary to protect the edges of the worktop. For you and especially for your children, the use of worktop profiles also means a reduced risk of injury, as the sharp edges are covered with the rounded profile. Our profiles also protect the surface of tiled worktops from all kinds of impacts, such as lateral impacts. Without the profile, the sensitive tile edge would be exposed to many more stresses and could quickly be damaged. In addition to protection and safety, worktop profiles also contribute significantly to the aesthetics. They give, for example, the kitchen a clean and elegant finish to unsightly edges.

Our worktop profile and its application

Our worktop profile is made of high-quality aluminum. You can choose between silver and titanium. Both versions have an anodized surface. The profile is available in heights of 9 mm, 11 mm & 12.5 mm and is supplied with all accessories such as outer and inner corners, end caps and connectors.

Worktops

The worktop profile as an edge treatment for tiled work surfaces offers further advantages. It is usually firmly anchored in the mortar bed of the actual tiles via a formed flange, thus providing secure hold and an immovable stop for the tiles. The aluminum strip also provides sufficient strength to absorb even point impacts or blows, thus protecting the damage-prone tiles from harm when struck on the edge. In the execution of the tiling work, the profile also serves as a straight finishing edge that can be easily installed plumb and level. Optically, a worktop profile offers various interesting options and can either be color-coordinated with existing elements such as the worktop, door handles or other strips, or it can be highlighted as an independent design element.

A tiled worktop has many advantages, and equipped with a tile strip it also receives the necessary protection and offers diverse design options. In hardly any other auxiliary product for carrying out the actual tiling work do technical sophistication and design diversity come together so easily as with a worktop profile.

Processing of worktop profiles

  1. Select the worktop profile 1-2 mm higher than the cladding thickness, as the adhesive always adds a little extra thickness.
  2. Apply tile adhesive to the edge area with a notched trowel.
  3. Press the support profile fully into the adhesive bed and align the front edge over the work surface.
  4. Fully cover the mounting brackets with filler.
  5. Then, firmly press the tiles or covering onto the worktop and align them so that they are flush with the top edge of the profile.
  6. Attach outer and inner corners and end caps as needed.
