Impact noise is the sound generated by footsteps or other movements on the floor and which spreads through the floor and adjacent walls and ceilings. Uncontrolled impact noise transmission can cause sounds and vibrations to spread undesirably throughout the room, leading to significant nuisance. Appropriate impact noise insulation can help reduce the spread of impact noise, thereby improving room acoustics and quality of life. There are various types of impact noise insulation that can be used depending on the application and floor covering.
A common method for impact sound insulation is the use of special insulation mats that are laid under the floor covering. These mats are made of different materials and have different thicknesses to dampen the sound according to requirements. It is important to select the appropriate impact sound insulation according to the requirements and the intended area of application. For example, a high-traffic area such as a hallway or stairwell requires stronger impact sound insulation than a bedroom or living room. By choosing the right impact sound insulation, not only can sound transmission be reduced, but also a pleasant feeling underfoot and improved thermal insulation can be achieved.
The DURAL impact sound insulation mat SW14 was specially developed to reduce impact noise in rooms with ceramic floor coverings. With a thickness of only 1.3 mm, it is extremely thin and therefore does not affect the height of the floor structure. Besides improving room acoustics, the mat also offers reduced cold feet without impairing the effect of underfloor heating. The mat consists of four layers and forms the perfect base for laying under ceramic floor coverings in residential, commercial and industrial areas. It is suitable for substrates such as wood, concrete, screed (including heating screeds) and similar. It can also be laid on existing, old coverings or under additional radiant heating systems.
With the impact sound insulation mat, you get a first-class mat that not only reduces impact noise and improves room acoustics, but also provides a pleasant feeling underfoot. Furthermore, it offers easy and quick installation on various substrates and is therefore suitable for many applications.

The combination of light and soft layers with heavy and hard layers is the basis for the diverse properties of DURABASE SW14.
The properties for impact sound insulation are certified with a test certificate from the Material Research and Testing Institute Leipzig/Germany.
Our impact sound insulation mat is extremely versatile and can be used in various applications, including private rooms, commercial spaces, and offices. It is capable of supporting surface loads of up to 2.0 kN/m² under tiles. The sound insulation mat can be installed in conjunction with ceramic tiles or natural stone tiles on standard underfloor heating systems, as it is suitable in terms of thermal transmittance resistance. Surface supplementary heating systems can also be applied to the SW mat according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The mat is suitable for installation on a variety of substrates such as cement screed, heating screed, anhydrite screed with a residual moisture content of less than 3%, wood, chipboard, tiles or similar. Another practical application is that it can also be installed over existing floor coverings. This saves the need to install a new screed with better insulation.
